Click to expand. Thanks for the help, there are 2 xbox 360 controllers from microsoft, one is xbox 360 controller & the other which is slight cheaper is Xbox360 controller for pc. Are they both the same? I m wrote to Feral as i was considering the ps3 controller as it was easy setup but got the bummer that there is no vibration with the ds3 so passed on getting it.
Decided to get the xbox360 controller & run the 3rd party drivers as i need shock feedback in my games. Will the vibration work with the wireless xbox360 controller with the windows receiver?

Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox Live Connection. Your console should now share the Internet connection that your Mac is using. Your Xbox 360 console can use this shared connection to connect to Xbox Live. For more help, post a message in the Xbox forums. Click to expand.I've recently played the Steam version of Trine on my Mac with two 360 controllers (co-op) so I can confirm that they will work with the game using the Tattiebogle driver (I use the 0.11 version as the latest one won't recognise any controllers in my case). That said it was a bit of a faff getting them working. The default set up didn't work properly and they required a bit of setting up.
In the Trine menu you have to go to 'Options' then 'Controller Configuration' to enable the controllers. I then had to remap the buttons in one of the custom configurations within the 'Customize Controllers' section to get everything to work. I hope that helps. The custom mapping went fine, it recognised button presses. However, when the game opened the left joystick worked but it ignored the mappings for the other buttons. The main problem was that once the game was running the keyboard was not recognised and there was no way to quit the game.
I ended up having to actually kill the power to the laptop. I might have another go but if its such a poor experience I may just bootcamp when I use the controller. I have been doing that but I was hoping to be able to dive in to a quick platformer in OSX without a restart.
So I'm still having problems w mine. Macbook pro 2012 running 10.9 here. I have a wired afterglow controller.
I've tried drivers.11,.12, and.13. I just ran the terminal script for third party controller support. My macbook appears to recognize the controller in system preferences, but it doesn't work w any games. And by not working w games, i mean it doesn't even show i have a controller connected (only shows keyboard options). Is there something I'm missing?
UPDATE: it works in tomb raider! But not in any other game i tried (maybe bc its 3rd party controller).

Final thoughts I am super stoked about developers climbing aboard the VR/AR hype train. As a mere consumer of VR, I can only hope for more and more creative minds to get on board. If you're a VR/AR developer, or even better yet, a macOS VR/AR developer, what other ways can Apple help promote virtual reality on their platform? Let us know in the comments! Updated April 2018: Updated to reflect that this method also now supports the Xbox One controller. This post may contain affiliate links. See our for more details.
